MT.Kailash & Manasarovar
Adventure of the Spirit.

The trek to Mt. Kailash is a religious
circumambulation of the revered peak. This
demanding but classic drive -trek to the scared
Mt. Kailash and Lake Manasarovar lake required
18 days and lots of endurance.
Mt. Kailash, known to the Tibetans as the "Jewel
of the Snow", lies in the western part of the
Tibetan Autonomous Region of China and a source
of four main rivers of India. It is one of the
most sacred mountains in Asia, and is venerated
by the followers for four different faiths -
Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism and the ancient Bon
religion. The perfectly shaped pyramid of rock
and snow is regarded as the center of the
spiritual universe by millions and, therefore,
is a hallowed pilgrimage site. Manasarovar Lake
nearby is no less sacrosanct. Devotees believe
that a dip in its cold waters washes away the
sins of a hundred lifetimes and is equal to
reaching the paradise of Brahma. The journey to
Kailash Manasarovar is not just an adventure,
but also an adventure of the spirit and a
passage through the history and culture of Asia.
The place is worth visited at the time of saga
dawa when many thousand of pilgrims from through
out Tibet gather to pay homage to the mountain. |
