The Annapurna region undoubtedly provides some
of the world’s best trekking routes, including a
variety of scenery and culture. Based in the
southern part of the Annapurna region, a trek to
Annapurna base camp enables you to get right
into the massif and your are surrounded by
peaks. The Annapurna is a vast range with
several peaks above 7000m and Annapurna Base
Camp forms a natural amphitheatre comprised of
such giants as Annapurna 1, Glacier Dome,
Gangapurna, Fang and the fishtail peak of
Machapuchare. In autumn the views should be
wonderfully clear, while in spring the
rhododendron forests provide a colorful
foreground to the splendid mountain vistas
Our trek program ventures into the deep forests
following the trails through oak and
rhododendron forest where the sound of the bird
calls fill the air and camp in serene locations
that afford magnificent views of the Annapurna
range along with the sacred, fluted peak of
Machapuchare. All along the trek there are views
of nearby mountains, especially at Chomrong, a
Gurung village with brilliant views of the
nearby mountain ranges. Making the most of these
surroundings, we head high on a mixture of good
paths, glaciers and easy scrambling ridges. As
we approach the top end of the valley the
scenery opens out to provide spectacular and
breathtaking views of the peak. |
